For my spoof ad, I chose Target because Target represents itself as a affordable, partical and family friendly enviorment. And it is, it can make overspending feel normal. Target’s slogan, “Expect More. Pay Less,” suggests simplicity and affordability, but the reality is that most shoppers, including me, often leave with more than they planned to buy. So missing the target.
In my digital artwork, I used Target’s recognizable red and white colors and recreated the bullseye logo with arrows missing it. The shopping cart in the design is overflowing, showing how easy it is to get carried away. I changed the slogan to “Expect More. Spend More” to reveal the contradiction between Target’s message and the actual shopping experience.
My goal was to keep the clean style of a real Target ad while exposing how we're actullt seem to get enourged to overspend.
